New screenshots Pirate Blast video game download for Nintendo Wii

THQ and Nickelodeon announce that they have entered into a new multi-year, licensing agreement, granting THQ the worldwide rights to develop and publish video games based on the highly popular SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants has been the No. 1 animated program among kids ages 2 to 11 for more than seven consecutive years.


Under the new agreement, THQ has the right to develop and publish interactive games based on the SpongeBob SquarePants property for the Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles, the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld systems, and the Xbox LIVE for the Xbox 360 video game system, PlayStation Network and Nintendo Wii Virtual Console online gaming portals. Scheduled for release in 2011, the first game to be developed under this agreement is being designed to take advantage of the unique capabilities of Nintendo 3DS, THQ’s highly anticipated uDraw GameTablet for Wii, and Kinect for Xbox 360, no controller required.

THQ has been developing video games based on SpongeBob SquarePants since 2002, and recently launched top performing titles across all genres, such as SpongeBob Boating Bash (2010) and SpongeBob Truth or Square (2009).* Global life-to-date games shipped for all published SpongeBob video game titles total more than 29 million units.

Miffy’s World is a simulation game world based on the character Miffy authored by Dick Bruna. Using Miffy as the in-game avatar, players must perform quests and puzzles in order to explore the World, score points and gain gifts.
Quests simultaneously promote the exploration of the World, interaction with characters, access to mini-games and are given to the player by NPCs (non player characters). Examples of the quests Miffy must embark on includes ‘The Birthday Party’ where she must undertake a variety of tasks including the delivery of three party invitations to her friends, picking an apple from the apple tree and feeding the chicken in order for it to lay an egg to allow her Aunt Alice to make a pie for the party. In ‘The Bird in the Snow’, Miffy finds a bird in the snow and must help Boris the bear build a bird house for it.
Puzzles each have an interface of their own design according to the gameplay. The puzzles deal with colours, shapes, the naming of objects, etc, and are necessary for the conclusion of quests.

Some examples of the puzzles in the game include ‘Ongoing Object’ where Boris the bear is building something using rectangular boards. The player has to choose from a series of images the right object that Boris is building.
In ‘Remember the Objects’ three objects are shown for 4-5 seconds on the screen. They fade to the background and a wraparound image appears. The player then has to identify the three objects in the picture.
With an abundance of quests and puzzles for the player to undertake and complete, Miffy’s World is set to stimulate the imagination and entertain a whole new generation of children.

The swashbuckling adventure, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, is now available on the Wii system from Nintendo for £29.99. After a successful mutiny, gamers serve as the ship’s captain and helm one of 27 fully customisable vessels in and around the treasure-laden 17th century Caribbean islands. Either by their ship’s cannon or sword’s blade, players must fend off their foes while they explore the exotic islands and surrounding seas hunting for hidden treasure.

Sid Meier’s Pirates! offers action-packed naval battles where captains must out maneuver opponents using prevailing winds in order to capture or sink the enemy’s ship. While on land, captains will descend upon and plunder seaside colonies, trade with local merchants, embark on daring secret missions, ransack hidden treasures, duel using blades of steel or pistols, capture seaside cities and dance the night away with the governor’s daughter.
