League of Legends acquired the prodigious title earlier this year when DLC Intelligence, a market research and consulting firm in conjunction with Xfire, gave out its annual playtimes of more than 21 million Xfire users. It seems that the winds have shifted in the favor of more casual online games that we can pick up and play, rather than the life consuming monoliths like World of Warcraft. The director of DLC Intelligence himself was astounded by the results the company had shown.
With the increasing push for competition in League of Legends by Riot and the ever increasing fanbase, it seems that the game plans to keep its throne for years to come.
